What is Inktober?

Artist Jake Parker founded Inktober as a challenge to improve his inking skills and develop better drawing habits. That was in 2009. More than a decade later, the challenge has blossomed into a worldwide phenomenon with thousands of artists of all ages taking on the challenge every year in October. Visit Parker’s Inktober site to see the prompts and “rules” from past years and newly posted prompts.

Below 17-year-old Kiyomi Farish shares some of her 2022 Inktober creations. Kiyomi thinks prompts are an easy, low-pressure way to get into drawing. We hope you think so, too.
